I forgot my password. What should I do?
On the MyChart login screen, click the Forgot Username? or Forgot Password? link for help. If you forgot both your username and password, start with the username first. You will be prompted to answer some security questions to verify your identity so you can recover your username or password.
If you still need help, contact your healthcare organization's MyChart support. You can usually find their contact information on their MyChart website's FAQ page.
What do I need to use MyChart?
You need access to a computer or mobile device connected to the Internet and an up-to-date browser (such as Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari). You can also use the MyChart mobile app on a mobile device.
What if I can't find my healthcare organization?
MyChart is available only to organizations that use Epic software. You can see a list of all organizations that use MyChart here.
If your healthcare organization isn't listed, they might offer a different patient portal and you can contact them directly about accessing your account.
How is MyChart secure?
Your healthcare providers take great care to ensure your health information is kept private and secure. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account must be accessed using that password. On the MyChart mobile app, you can also log in using face ID or fingerprint login. Unlike conventional email, all MyChart messaging is done while you are securely logged in to the website or mobile app.
You can ensure that your account stays secure even if someone else has your username or password by turning on two-step verification. When this feature is turned on, you must enter a code that is sent to you by email or text message to log in to MyChart, in addition to using your username and password.
You might receive email or text notifications that contain links to MyChart. These notifications allow you to log in to MyChart securely using a link that expires after a short time. Keeping your MyChart account secure means keeping your phone number and email account secure. If you think that your phone number or email account might be compromised, you can change the phone number or email account on file on the Personal Information page in MyChart.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored with your healthcare organization. Epic does not have access to your data and cannot reset your passwords for you. If you need to update your information and are unable to do so from MyChart, you will need to reach out to your healthcare organization directly.
What can my provider see?
Your healthcare provider has access to your full medical record so they can provide the best care for you. If you're seen at multiple organizations, your provider might be able to see information from your record at another organization if both organizations participate in Care Everywhere. MyChart is a window that shows you what is in your medical record and your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your provider's office.
What should I do if some of my information in MyChart is incorrect?
Your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your provider's office. Ask your provider to correct any inaccurate information at your next clinic visit. Your health information is reviewed and updated in your electronic medical record after each visit. You may also contact the medical records department at your healthcare organization to request a correction to your chart.
If I send a MyChart message, when can I expect a reply?
You will generally receive a response within 1-3 business days, but each healthcare organization has their own policies around responding to MyChart messages. Note that MyChart messages should not be used for urgent situations. Please contact your medical center if you need immediate attention or dial 911 if it is an emergency.
Can I view a family member's medical record in MyChart?
Yes, you can. MyChart proxy access allows you to access the medical records of your family members and others you care for, with their permission. You must be at least 18 years old to have proxy access to another person's medical record.
You might also want to grant a family member or friend access to your medical records when you need assistance managing your appointments and other medical needs. To give someone access to your medical record, you might be able to send a proxy invite through the Friends and Family Access page in MyChart.
Note that each healthcare organization has their own policies around proxy access, including who can have it, how it varies based on the patient's age, and what things a proxy can see and do in MyChart.
Why can't I delete my account?
MyChart is just a window that allows you to see your legal medical record at your healthcare organization. Epic doesn't store any of your medical information. Your information is always with your healthcare organization and there are laws and regulations for them to keep it. However, you can deactivate your MyChart account in Account Settings in the MyChart app or by contacting your healthcare organization's MyChart help desk.
I have two or more MyChart accounts. Can I link them together?
MyChart accounts can be linked so you can see all your information in one view. We call this Happy Together. Depending on your healthcare provider's version of Epic, Happy Together might not be available to you yet. If your organizations both participate, you should be able to link them by going to the "Link My Accounts" page in your MyChart account. View a list of participating organizations. For more information about Happy Together, go to this page.
